From Daughter to Mother: I Get It Now

When I was growing up, my mother was my superhero. Suze Randall broke down barriers and brought a woman’s touch into a overwhelmingly male-dominated field. You think there aren’t enough female porn directors/photographers now? Imagine what it was like 30 years ago. Despite the challenges she faced, she never let it affect the quality of time she spent with her family. As a child, I couldn't fully grasp the weight of what she went through to balance work and family life. But now, as a mother myself, I have a newfound appreciation for the sacrifices she made.

Motherhood has changed my life in ways I never could have imagined. Before I had my daughter, my career was my baby. Work was the most important thing in my life, and I was constantly striving for awards and accolades. But once I became a mother, everything changed. Suddenly, my daughter was the center of my universe, and my career took a back seat. All those things that I used to think were so important suddenly no longer mattered. Sure, I still want to do my job well and succeed, but ultimately, my family comes first. It's funny - I never thought I'd be the type of person to put family before work, but here I am. And you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way. Being a mother has given me a whole new perspective on life, and I'm grateful for every moment. Becoming a mother has also given me a deeper understanding of what my own mother went through to raise me while still pursuing her career.

It's not easy being a career woman, especially in a controversial field like adult entertainment. My mother faced constant criticism and stereotypes from those who didn't understand her world. Yet, she persisted and worked hard to provide for our family. I saw firsthand how she balanced her work schedule with attending my school events, sports games, and helping with homework.

As I juggle my own career and motherhood, I can't help but think about how my mother did it all those years ago. How did she manage to be so strong and resilient? How did she handle the pressure of being a role model to her children, while breaking barriers in her field? Especially in a time where sex work was stigmatized even more than it is now, if you can believe it. I am grateful for the sacrifices she made and the lessons she taught me about hard work, dedication, and perseverance.

It’s hard to explain how motherhood has changed me, at my core. But it has given me a newfound appreciation for the strength and resilience of my own mother. Being a career woman and raising children is no easy task, but I am proud to be following in her footsteps. Thank you, Mom, for everything you did and continue to do for our family.
